The Advanced Tour is our longest and most technical route: it lines up in a single excursion all the landmark places of Etna's east side. It's built for those who have already ridden a quad (or have solid off-road experience) and want a real day on the volcano, not a taster.
First stop Monte Fontana with the viewpoint over the Valle del Bove, then the crossing towards the 1928 craters above the Ripe della Naca. From there you climb further: the woods give way to volcanic sands and Etna birches up to the Sartorius Mounts, the famous row of seven craters born from the 1865 eruption — one of the most lunar and photographed landscapes in the Park.
The last stop is the Robbers' Cave (Grotta dei Ladroni), a lava tube over a hundred metres long, used for centuries as an ice store and — so the tradition goes — as a hideout for brigands. Along the way there's a break with a snack of local products, included in the price.
The terrain alternates fast trails, climbs on loose surface and technical stretches among the flows: this is where the quad is at its best, and why we ask for some experience. The route is customisable: when you book you can agree stops and pace with the guide. If you'd prefer something calmer, look at the 2-hour Basic Tour or the 3-hour Intermediate Tour.

A lava tube over 100 metres long on the north-east side: for centuries it was used as an ice store to keep snow, and legend makes it a brigands' hideout. You stop to see it from the entrance.
Yes. Four and a half hours on technical ground tire the hands and legs of anyone not used to it. If you've never ridden a quad, the Basic Tour is the right starting point — many guests come back later for the Advanced.
